Ms. Bobbe Barnes is a highly qualified educator and consultant with over 40 years of professional experience in professional certification; governmental accounting, accounting Training of Trainers (TOT) programs in the United States and abroad. Currently, she delivers workshops worldwide on such accounting topics as IFRS and US GAAP.
She has received her Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) at the University of Texas and her BA Economics (minor in Mathematics) at the University of Rochester. She is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and was a former Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFMA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Texas (retired) and Colorado, the latter in which she remains active. She also speaks a fair amount of Spanish and Russian.
In the past, she worked extensively in Central Asia developing the Certified International Professional Accountant (CIPA) certificate program, developing training courses, examinations, and overseeing the development of accounting education. She has also designed a special workshop for CIPA trainers and teachers to improve pedagogical methodology and develop a professional network, which she has delivered in Belarus and Ukraine. In Ukraine, Ms. Barnes also worked as a Senior Consultant to the USAID Accounting Reform Project to strengthen delivery of the CIPA Program through trainers, training providers, universities and local professional organizations. During this time, she developed and delivered a series of summer workshops for teachers and trainers to improve their technical knowledge and teaching methodology for delivering CIPA courses.
As Regional Director of Accounting Education on a USAID funded accounting reform project implemented by The Pragma Corporation, Ms. Barnes developed the CIPA certificate program including training courses, examinations, and oversaw grading of examinations given in 8 countries, including all of Central Asia, Moldova, Russia and Bulgaria.
Bobbe Barnes is currently affiliated with BMB Enterprises as a Director and International Trainer, delivering a variety of workshops on IFRS and US GAAP in African, European, Far East, Middle Eastern and US markets for several course providers, including AICPA, Euromoney Training, and IASeminars. She is also a Senior Consultant in the Accounting Development of The Pragma Corporation in Falls Church, Virginia. Currently, she also is heading up the curriculum development of online CPE courses for a major education firm.
Just recently she was a keynote speaker at the International Accounting and Auditing Conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and a speaker at the fifth annual Middle East IFRS and Accounting Summit 2009 in Dubai, where she also conducted a full day workshop on Financial Instruments.
